2.1849 The World of Globalization.
We live in a world of ever increasing internationalization. This ubiquitous process of 'globalization' has become so pervasive that the well-established concept of 'nations' and 'states' is now being questioned. Though it is undeniable that states still do hold clear authority, evinced recently by the ongoing US/Iraq crisis, and India/Pakistan nuclear tests, there is equal evidence to support the fact that states are losing ground to the process of globalization. In the world of the 1990s and beyond, though the state still operates in an environment of distinct anarchy, globalization is imposing a set of indirect controls that will keep it in line more than ever before. This paper will follow the trail to the death of the nation state. 10 pgs. 16 f/c. 8b.

3.1873 The Effect of Globalization on everyday life in western capitalist societies.
This paper that will discuss the end of the nation state as we presently know it. Though there is plenty of evidence to support the notion that nationalism is on the rise in many states (witness here Quebec, and the widespread incidence of civil wars in other countries), the paper offers the rebuttal that all states, emerging, new, and old, will be overrun by the process of globalization before long, given its current force. The nation state is simply an outmoded form of political and economic organization that is not capable of dealing with the forces that are prying upon it. Only the end of globalization can restore full life to the nation state. 19 pgs. 31 f/c. 14b.

4.1909 The End of The Nation State.
This paper will discuss the end of the nation state as we presently know it. Though this thesis sounds severe, the effect that economic globalization is having on democracy is, with little doubt, pulling at the delicate weave that holds countries together. Already stressed in this respect, Canada seems to have more to lose than many of her peers. The ongoing strife with Quebec is but one instance of this. In Canada and in the world at large, it is becoming increasingly clear that the nation state is simply an outmoded form of political and economic organization. It is simply incapable of dealing with the forces that are prying upon it. Only the end of globalization can restore full life to the nation state. But, barring a disaster of epic proportions, this seems unlikely to happen. 11 pgs. 21 f/c. 7b.

The effects of globalization are intense and they clearly diminish the power of the state. In the world of the 1990s and beyond, though the state still operates in an environment of official anarchy, globalization is imposing a set of indirect controls that will keep it in line more than ever before. 13.5 pgs. 20 f/c. 7b.

6.2603 Globalization and The Questioning of the Concept of 'Nations' and 'States'.
This paper looks at the new realities of globalization ensures that governments are inherently less able to control what comes in or out of their own states. There are no adequate domestic polices that can protect a state against the vagaries of the international community; there is no policy maker that can anticipate, or even monitor, all the events around the world that could have effects on the state. Therefore, the role of the state has changed. 12 pgs. 21 f/c. 8b.
